Here you will find tales of our 2006 winter New Zealand adventure. It's Brooke's first time to the southern hemisphere and Mikes first time to the other side of the globe. Together we will do our darndest to revel in the beauty of New Zealand's great outdoors, and to taste the finest microbrews that we can track down! Forward and downward to New Zealand! Also keep an eye out for our 2007 winter road trip, with the newest member of our family; Paddy the big yellow dog.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us. We are really enjoying following your adventures. Love the pictures. Have a great Xmas, we will be heading to CA on Xmas.

Dear Brooke and Mike!
Wow!!!! What great pictures, and what a great adventure. This trip will generate great memories and stories which we look forward to sharing upon your return.
Phoebe and Alder are both home. This makes Karen and I very happy and keeps us hopping.
We will celebrate here tomorrow and on the 28th head over to B'ham to check in with all the others. From there the pace picks up and we all begin charging around starting our activities for 2006. I am headed back to Baton Rouge to work for FEMA for three weeks on the 2nd of January.
I am going to close by wishing you a very Merry Christmas and then allowing the rest of the group to complete this blog.... Rivet!! My love to both of you. Bruce
(Karen, here) We're enjoying your pictures and journey and can imagine you in all of these places. You're also wonderful ambassadors! How neat to find new friends.
We're snuggled in, having a nice pre-Christmastime with Alder, Phoebe, and Jill. It's so nice to have a little time to enjoy the experience. We hope you're doing the same and we look forward to being with you when you get back. We send lots of hugs and love, wishing you a very merry Christmas!
(From Alder): I'm so happy for the two of you that you're taking this trip! I can't wait hear stories and see pictures when you're back in the States. Here, all's well. I have one semester left in New Haven (knock on wood), but for now it's really nice to be home with my folks -- my brain is kinda worn out. Maybe I should take your cue and take some time for rambling and exploring too.. ;-)
(youngest last): Hi to you both. I'm home from London after a semester that was all to short. I hope you guys have a wonderful christmas. It's good to be back with the 'rents, but I think going back to school will help a lot with the culture shock. Looking forward to seeing you when you get home!
We all love you both, and hope your christmas day is filled with great food and great friends.
Merry Christmas,
The Others
Merry Christmas Mike and Brooke!

Mike and Brooke -- Your $4 campsite looked like a very appealing postcard and it's hard to imagine that you could get yourselves to leave. Really beats the upper Skagit right now (lots and lots of rain, warms temps, rivers coming up but no flooding).
Keep the pictures and stories coming and have a great New Year!

One more thing:
Mike -- the Yankees signed Johnny Damon! Just stay in New Zealand, as far away from the Evil Empire as you can!
